Overview

nudge. is an independent iOS app owned and operated by Kowalczyk Ventures LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"). It gives you one real-world challenge each week. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user. We collect only what we need to run the app. We do not sell your data. We do not run ads.

nudge. is intended for users 18 years of age or older. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a username you choose. We do not collect your legal name unless you are a member of a team that requires it (see Teams section below).

Content you create. Your posts (the sentence or two you write about what happened), reactions, vouches, and tags ("Who was there?") are stored on our servers. Each post is visible according to the visibility you choose for it: your friends, or everyone.

Profile information. Your username, avatar, bio, friends list, team memberships, and your week-by-week history (which weeks you completed, your weeks-in-a-row streak, and badges) are stored so you can use the app across sessions and devices.

ZIP code. We ask for your ZIP code when you sign up, and it is required. We use it only for diagnostics, to see roughly where people are using nudge. It is never shown in the app and never shared with anyone.

Time zone and app version. We store your time zone so reminders arrive at a sensible time for you, and the version of the app you are running so we can troubleshoot problems.

Usage data. We collect basic usage information, including when you complete challenges and app activity timestamps (last active date). This is used to run features like streaks and your calendar.

Push notification token. If you enable notifications, we store a device token so we can send you push notifications. It is used only to send notifications and cannot be read by other users. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings or within the app.

Photos. Adding a photo to a post is optional. Photos are only uploaded when you choose to attach one. They are stored privately and shown only to the people allowed by the visibility you choose for that post (your friends, or everyone).

Team data. If you join or lead a team, your membership, your role, your join date, and your participation in that team's challenges are stored. Team leaders can see your participation in the team's challenges (what you completed and when, plus any note or photo you send with a team challenge), your current and longest streak, and when you were last active in the app. Your personal posts, photos and friends list are not shared with team leaders through the team.

AI. nudge. uses Anthropic's Claude to help moderate posts. Post content may be sent to Anthropic's API so it can be checked automatically against our community standards. For sponsored challenges that ask for a proof photo, that photo may also be sent so it can be checked against the challenge. This is not used for any purpose other than content moderation and checking challenge photos, and it is not used to train AI models. We also use Claude to write the sample posts labeled EXAMPLE that show new users what a post looks like; these are not posts by real users. Content sent to Anthropic is subject to Anthropic's privacy policy.

How we use your information

Third-party services

nudge. uses the following third-party services to operate:

We do not use advertising networks, analytics platforms that sell data, or any other third-party services beyond those listed above.

Website visits. On nudgeme.today we count page visits and clicks on a few buttons (such as "Start free" or the App Store link) with our own simple tool, so we know whether the site is working. It uses no cookies and stores no IP address, name or email: just the page, the button, the website you came from, and whether you are on a phone or computer, grouped by a random number that is forgotten when you close the tab. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is recorded.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data only as necessary to operate the services listed above, or if required by law.

Within the app: your username, avatar, bio, and streak are visible to other users. Your posts and photos are visible according to the visibility you choose for each post (your friends, or everyone). If someone tags you in a post, you are asked to confirm the tag. Team leaders can see participation in their team's challenges, your streak, and when you were last active. Your ZIP code and push notification token are never visible to other users.

Teams and real name data

Team owners may optionally require members to provide their real name when joining a team. If enabled, your real name is stored in association with your team membership only. It is visible only to your team owner and co-owners, is never displayed on your public profile, and is never used for any purpose other than team management. You will be informed of this requirement before joining and may decline to join any team that requires it. If you leave the team or the team is deleted, your name is deleted with it.

California residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of your data, and to confirm we do not sell your personal information (we don't). You also have the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

In practice: you can delete all your data directly in the app under Settings → Account → Delete Account. We do not sell data. If you have a request we can't fulfill in-app, email mike@nudgeme.today and we'll respond within 45 days.

Geographic scope

nudge. is intended for users in the United States. We do not direct our services at users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with separate data protection frameworks. If you are located outside the United States, you use nudge. at your own discretion and we make no representations that the app complies with the data protection laws of your jurisdiction.

Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or operational reasons. Posts you have made that have been seen by others may persist in those users' cached feeds for a short period after deletion.

Managing your data

Most things can be handled directly in the app:

For anything else (correcting information we hold, requesting a data export, or other questions), email mike@nudgeme.today and we'll respond within 30 days.

Account deletion

You can delete your account from within the app under Settings. This will permanently delete your profile, posts, and all associated data. Deletion is irreversible.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are never stored in plaintext. Authentication is handled by Supabase using industry-standard security practices. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

nudge. is intended for adults 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at mike@nudgeme.today and we will delete the account promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the app. Continued use of nudge. after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree to updated terms, you should stop using the app and delete your account.
